WHAT WE DO
United futures – an innovative, free workshop series for all victorian secondary schools
We aim to provide young secondary aged students opportunities to engage with their community through developing and the delivery of local social impact projects. Centred around the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, we aim to inform high school students about prevalent social issues and support them in their own community projects.
In order to promote volunteerism and altruistic action from an early age, our workshops will lead and follow a group and to oversee the development and delivery of a community project that will benefit the local community. Offering leadership and personal development opportunities to students, we would like to help nurture and inspire the future change-makers of Australian society.
Young people are increasingly recognised as critical actors in matters of global importance. However, community involvement opportunities are restricted at a young age and are often difficult to find, and students often feel that they are “too young” to make a meaningful impact within their greater community.
To be able to thrive in the world of constant change we now live in, young people need opportunities to dream, lead, and initiate change in and out of school, applying it across all aspects of their lives.
how it works
We will introduce the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals through an interactive lecture-styled presentation
We guide youth to use their passions and creativity to bring attention to issues they care about, coming up with social impact project ideas that are in line with the SDGs and are beneficial to their local community.
FOF facilitators will assist the participants in planning their project by showing them how to collaborate in a team and problem-solve various project issues, such as marketing, logistics, how to get external help, etc. Participants are expected to develop their teamwork and problem-solving skills, as well as their critical thinking skills as they navigate and progress through the project.
project implementation & delivery
Our workshop series will end with the delivery of the project to the community, brining positive impact to the local area.
